How many people should come with you to pick out your wedding dress? Our brides love private appointments w/ max two guests. It’s much more enjoyable for them and us too. You can call us to schedule an appointment.

Wedding gowns should be ordered at least 6 months before the wedding. We do have dresses on the rack that can purchased if you are in a time crunch. Right now, even with Covid 19, there have been no delays in wedding dresses coming in.

  Wedding Flower tips from Just Judy’s Flower Local Arts & Gift 

As a retail florist with 40 years’ experience, I never have seen anything quite like our current situation. Many of the farms and suppliers have reduced capacity or have temporarily shut down.  So the available on many flower varieties may be questionable in the near future. That being said, flowers are still coming into our area. The flower you want may not be available. That doesn’t mean there might not be something available that will work well. 

Really, the number one reason we tend to like something is color. So here is a little tip to that might help you out. All flowers and foliage can be classified into 4 basic shapes. Those are line, mass, accent, and form. A line flower or foliage will have a long general straight form such as gladiolus or foxtail fern. Mass is any round flower or foliage like roses, dahlia or galax leaf. Accent is any botanical with lots of little spiking blooms or leaves. Good examples of accent would be baby’s breath, or seeded eucalyptus foliage.  Form is a bit less common where the shape of the botanical does not fall under the other classifications such as a Bird of Paradise or orchid. Most of the time you can find similar shaped flowers and foliage to give you the same over all look and feel in any design you like.

When choosing songs for your wedding ceremony, don’t forget the recessional, the song to walk back down the aisle with your new spouse! So many times, brides have all the music for parents and grandparents to walk to, the groom & minister, the bridesmaid & groomsmen & of course her song! Whether you choose the traditional wedding recessional by Mendelssohn or something special just for you, it will great to hear it right after they introduce you as Mr & Mrs!

Put the DJ near the dance floor! Sometimes, the floor plan will have us in a corner and the dance floor in the center of the room. That means all the tables between the DJ & dance floor will be blasted with the music. If you have a question, where to put us at your venue, don’t hesitate to ask ahead of time.

When you’re choosing a date for your wedding, look to see what else is going on in town that might be a problem for you and your guests. One bride had her wedding scheduled downtown at a church & then moving to the banquet facility. It was the day of the Mardi Gras parade downtown when it’s packed out and there is no where to park! Also with everyone rescheduling with Covid 19, that means a lot of events are going to be happening on dates later than the traditional time every year. Fiesta of 5 Flags has moved it’s week long celebration and parade from June to July.

Don’t get caught up in picking every song for your reception. Pick your favorites and what’s special to you, & let our professional DJs do the rest! We watch the crowd, look at the different age groups and see what they respond to.

Your reception is a time to take the opportunity to thank all the important people in your life that have come to celebrate with you!

Advice for all couples- In our experience rental items and event designs can really shape the look of the day, make sure what you envision for your design and what you are receiving is truly the same.  Sometimes comparing apples to apples is more than just comparing the same style rental chairs, floral pieces, draping styles or even table clothes from two or more different companies; for example just because two items might have the same name or description doesn't mean they are the same condition or the same quality.   

Make sure your vendors take pride in their products and designs!

   If you have guys coming from out of town to be in your wedding, let them know they can go to any tux shop in their town and be measured. That way they have the right measurements that the formal wear shop needs and don’t get a surprise when they get here the night before and try it on.

 Pensacola Beach is an entirely public beach. Your wedding ceremony can be sited anywhere along the eight mile beach. You can set up an arch or arbor and chairs may be set up on the beach for the convenience of your guests. Please remember to remove your items after the ceremony! 

If you are renting a home through Paradise Beach Homes and will be holding a gathering at a property, you must notify the office ahead of time. We require an event fee for any group event and a permit is required through the Santa Rosa Island Authority for events over 35 people. Paradise Beach Homes will obtain the permit for your event. Please contact the office for event-friendly properties.
